ABOUT APPARITION

History

Apparition (originally “Not in the FACE”) was founded in the summer of 2007 as a casual alt guild and a quiet time place for former raiders burnt out of the 7 nights a week, 6 hours a night scene. It was a home to goof around and do some casual 5 and 10 mans with friends, in a relaxed environment.

As the roster grew, and more and more friends joined our side we quickly found ourselves unable to maintain just a couple of 10 mans and the urge to step back in to progressive raiding soon followed, giving you the guild you currently see. Apparition is a progressive guild with an eye on top tier content. We strive to achieve anything that is set in front of us with a group of like minded individuals, and at the best of our collective ability.

Guild Goals

Apparition has proven itself to be upon the top tier of guild's on the server while trying to maintain a low-key profile and friendly atmosphere. We have a core set of values in which we run the guild on, it gives us something to stand besides, and keeps a bar for us to constantly jump over and improve upon.

We believe in:

  • Teamwork - Only working together can we achieve great things
  • Focus - Focus and commitment to the job at hand and what lies ahead of us
  • Maturity - Just that, we are all adults and do our best to act like it.
  • Leadership - Strong leadership to move the guild along at it's paces.
  • Progression - The guild is defined by it's accomplishments
  • Privacy - We do not brag, gloat, gossip amongst others, what happens in the guild stays in the guild.

Guild Ranks

Casual
These are friends of the Frontline players in the guild. They are not looking for a raid spot and are just looking to “be in the same guild” so they can chat and set things up on off nights. Casuals do not earn EPGP because a player with the casual rank will never be asked to enter a raid – even if spots are open. Normal recruiting procedures were not followed for a casual invite, hence the reason they are not permitted to raid. If a casual decides they’d like to raid, then they must apply to the guild through our application site and go through the full recruiting process. If we like the application and have need for the class, the casual player will be promoted to Initiate and the regular process for new recruits will be followed. A casual player that does not make Frontline will be demoted back to casual status instead of being released from the guild.

Alternate
These are alts of current guild members. Alts have no priority to raid. Officers may ask someone to raid on an alt if the need arised, but with dual spec now in the game this would probably only happen on a very rare occassion.

Skirmisher
These are our former Frontline players who either no longer have the desire or the time to raid full time. When a raid is short we can and will dip into this pool to see if they can help fill holes. They do earn EPGP but are last in terms of loot priority. These veterans of the war still carry our guild tag proudly. Should a Skirmisher wish to return to the rank of Frontline, they may do so by making it known to the officer core. If a raid spot exists for them, they can be moved back into the fold. If a raid spot does not currently exist, they may be moved back to Frontline rank, but may find themselves waitlisted until a more permanent spot opens.

Initiate
Fresh meat for the grinder. Initiates are either up and coming additions to the guild or future Dalaran Ditch Drainers. This is your trial period where you prove to us that you want to be a part of the guild, and are a good fit. The initiate stage lasts up to one month at which point it will be decided if you will be moved over to the Frontline rank or asked to leave the guild.

Frontline
These are the hardcore. The ones committed to progressing for both themselves and the guild. Striving for that next boss in the end game content. Checking the progression charts three or four times a day even though they know it updates once a week. They know their class, have studied the strats, come prepared to every raid, on time and bags packed with consumables, their gear is well taken care of and most importantly they wear that Apparition tag over their head proudly.

Officer\GM
These are the people that work to make things run ike a well oiled machine, setting goals and getting the roadblocks out of the way so that the guild can succeed. They take pride in the guild's achievements and care about the individuals that make up the guild. They're veterans of many raiding guilds, maybe have some skills in organizing and managing people, are class or raid experts, or are just opinionated bastards with a control freak complex. Either way this group is here to help you with any number of questions or concerns; recruitment, class help, gear questions, raid issues, or why that cute gnome stood you up in the tramway the other night. Well maybe not the last one.

Raiding Requirements

Apparition takes raiding seriously and as a result we don't brook excuses about not being prepared for every raid. Officers will check throughout the night to ensure that every Raider is geared up appropriately and is well stocked with consumables. Raider status is earned and if there are enough offenses you will be demoted to the Skirmisher rank or released from the guild.

Expectations:

  • Guild Guidelines - we want people who believe in the guild and its goals. Individuals on the raiding team are team players, mature, cooperative, and represent the guild. It doesn't matter if you're pro, if you don't represent the values that Apparition holds then our guild is not for you.
  • Signups - the guild maintains an online schedule. Use it. Signup for raids ahead of time so that raid leads can start working on raid composition. If you can't make it please make sure you still use the schedule to indicate you're not available. And we all know crap happens. If you suddenly can't make it for RL reasons just let someone know or again, flag yourself unavailable. Don't leave the team hanging at first pull time wondering where you are. This is one of the quickest ways to lose your Frontline status.
  • Commitment - if you've signed up be on time and ready for first pull. There are 24 other people that are relying on you and you've made a commitment to them to do your part.
  • Gear - gear is appropriate for PvE and your class and spec. Don't show up in PvP gear. Gear is enchanted and gemmed to the best of your resources.
  • Consumables - healing pots, mana pots, flasks, and food. Raid leads -will- check and you will be called out if you're not buffed and ready.
  • Know the Strats - you've read the strats not only for the boss that we're currently working on but the one after that as well. Read up and know your role. If you're unclear, ask. And stay out of the fire!!!
  • Know Your Class - you're expected to know your class and your respective role in raid. You need to be able to take constructive criticism on how to improve or just how to squeeze that last little bit out of your game play. You're the type that reads EJ forums to improve yourself and keep on top of Blizz changes. You're also the type who shares their knowledge with the rest of the team to help everyone improve.

Frontline raiders who do not meet these expectations will be approached and issues discussed. If no improvements are made, the raider may find themselves demoted to Skirmisher rank or released from the guild.

Loot Distribution

Apparition uses the EPGP system for loot distribution. This is a system that awards effort and encourages people to spend their PR rather than hoard it.

How does it work?

  • While in an instance you will earn “Effort Points” (EP).
  • Effort Points will be given every 15 minutes at the rate of 300 EP on progression content, 100 EP on farm content.
  • Everyone will start with a base Gear Points (GP) of 10. The EPGP program uses a formula to determine the value of a piece of gear. When you win an item, the value of that piece of gear is added to your GP total.
  • Your Priority (PR) is determined by dividing your Effort Points earned by the amount of Gear Points you’ve received.
  • Every reset both your EP and your GP will be decayed by 30%. Your PR will remain the same (since it is a ratio) but your overall effort points and gear points will diminish. This will encourage people to spend their points as opposed to sitting watching them waste away. Someone who sits on their PR hoping for one item will see themselves shuffled really low into the pack when the item finally drops whereas someone else who spends will be able to grab several items over the same time.

How do I spend it?

  • We use the master looter function in raid
  • Loot drops will be announced via raid warning.
  • If you want the drop simply send a tell to the Loot Officer specifying whether you want it for primary or offspec.
  • The master looter will compare total PR for each Raider expressing an interest and the loot will be awarded to the highest PR main spec bid.
  • In case of a tie in PR, the person with the most EP will win the item. If EP is also tied, the item will be /random
  • The item will be master looted to the winner, and the item’s GP total will be added to the winner’s GP tally. Note that if an item is won for offspec (no main spec bids) that the EPGP program will award it at half GP value.

Loot priority?

  • Frontline > Initiate > Skirmisher
  • So a Frontline player with a lower PR than an Initiate will STILL win the item over the initiate.
  • The officers still reserve the right to apply other priorities based on class effectiveness (i.e. awarding a gun to a hunter over a rogue/warrior bid).
  • Crafted Item - Runed Orbs
  • Any Runed Orbs that drop in raid are property of the guild bank.
  • Each reset we will make available Runed Orbs to raiders to craft items provided we have enough.
  • Normal loot priorities will remain in affect (Frontline > Initiate). At this time Skirmishers will not be permitted to request Runed Orbs.
  • You MUST have all other materials for the piece before you request Runed Orbs.
  • All of the requests will be collected on the official forums, and the person with the highest EP (NOT PR) will be awarded enough Runed Orbs to make their gear.
  • The person receiving the Runed Orbs must make the item and equip it yourself on your main raiding toon. Selling Runed Orbs, selling the crafted gear, or equiping the gear on an alternate toon will result in a /gkick.
  • The person who receives the Runed Orbs will have the value of the crafted item added to their GP score. The Runed Orbs were obtained by raiding, the gear is to be used in raiding, and as such, they will be considered raid drops and charged appropriately.
  • Once a person has received a set of Runed Orbs, they will be on a "cool down" period before they can request MORE Runed Orbs.
  • The officers may sell one or two Runed Orbs a reset to help fund progression night repairs.

Legendary drops

  • Legendary drops will be treated on an exception basis and is not subject to the above rules.
  • The officers will award legendaries based on a player's service to and time within the guild. All legendaries will still fall under the EPGP system once awarded.

Any bonuses or exceptions?

  • On time EP is awarded if you are in the raid before pull.
  • Bonus EP is awarded per boss kill, 300 EP for progression, 100 EP for farm content.

What about progression nights?

The guild bank will cover all repairs on progression fights. Once we’ve downed a boss three times it is considered to be on farm status. All EP awards for that boss will fall to 100 EP per kill and EP awards in raid will be at 100 EP per 15 minutes. All guild repairs will be turned off for farm content bosses.

And non-epic loot?

  • Greys? Greens? Go nuts and keep it. Model your new found gear to your guild mates.
  • Blue BoEs/BoPs are sharded for mats and sent to guild bank
  • Purple BoEs/BoPs are sent to the EPGP system
  • Purple BoE items not bid on will be sold on the AH and proceeds go to the guild bank
  • Patterns, recipes, plans, etc. are random/100 to those that can use them and cost no dkp
  • Patterns for BoP crafted items go to crafters who will use the crafted item

Where can I see my EPGP standings?

You can download the same mod that the officers are using and run it. To check your standings you only need to type /epgp. You can learn more about the mod (and download it) from http://code.google.com/p/epgp/wiki/TheSystem

Raiding Schedule

Apparition raids end game content 4 nights a week. Currently that means Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Invites start at 7:30pm server time and first pull is at 8:00 server time. Raids will be wrapped up at 11:00pm server time. On certain nights we may push beyond 11:00pm for progression purposes and we ask all our raiders be flexible when that happens.

The guild maintains a raid calendar on the website (http://apparitionguild.com/raids/) and it’s a requirement to use it. Raid leaders will review the list ahead of each raid date and confirm your raid slot according to class balance and need. If you're not available to raid please set yourself as N/A as a courtesy to the team rather then just not signing up.

Recruitment

Like what you see? Heard good things? Looking to join? This is probably the section that you are looking for.

As goals change and people come and go, so does our roster. Although there are times we find ourselves filled to the brim with members, we are always keeping an eye out for good additions to our family.

What we look for in possible recruits is the following:

  • Maturity
  • A solid and demonstrable understanding of their class
  • Accepts constructive criticism and is co-operative
  • A need to excel and be the best they can be.
  • Some good gear doesn't hurt their cause either.

Ready to apply?

Then drop us an application at http://apparitionguild.com/apply/index.php. **NOTE – due to the amount of applications received, we will only be contacting those people who are targeted for a Frontline position. We do keep all applications on file, and while we might not be recruiting your class at the moment, if a spot opens we may contact impressive applications in the future.

Our best advice to applicants is to take the time to fill in your application, as the application is what will set our initial impression of you.
